Ira Byrd Lilly

Ira Byrd Lilly, 95, of Idle Lane, Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021. Born September 11, 1925 in Spanishburg, WV, he was a son of the late Cyrus Truman Lilly and Ethel Stovall Lilly.  Ira was of the Methodist faith and was a former member of the Bluewell Lions Club and the Reeves Bird Club.  He was a retired contractor having built many houses throughout Bluewell, Brushfork and the surrounding area. Ira was a proud United States Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Coast Guard on the U.S. Marion.   In addition to his parents, Ira was preceded in death by a brother, James Lilly and wife Ann.

Those left to cherish Ira’s memory are his wife of 57 years, Patsy Willis Lilly of the home; sons, Ira Lee Lilly and wife, Bernadette of Columbus, OH, and Michael Shay Lilly and wife, Susan Leach of Clayton, GA; brothers, Cyrus Lilly II of Spanishburg, WV, and Percy Lilly and wife, Mary of Tiffin, OH; sister, Betty Hoffman of Waynesboro, VA; and two grandchildren, Amber Lilly and Megan Lilly.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Reed Cemetery in Spanishburg, WV with Chaplain C.T. Lilly officiating. Those attending services are asked to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105.  In keeping with Ira’s wishes, he will be cremated.  Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Lilly family.
