Henry McKinney

Henry Eugene “Mac” McKinney, age 80 entered his heavenly home on June 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 11, 1944, in Pocahontas, Virginia to the late Opie and Haley (Mathews) McKinney. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by sisters Margaret Mosher and Sally Krimiser.

Mac served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. After a short stint in the insurance business, he began his career with the Social Security Administration. His most important jobs were as a loving husband, dad, papaw, and mentor.

Mac was an avid bowler and competed in leagues at Mountaineer Bowling Lanes. He was a mentor to many young bowlers. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ in Bluefield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Brenda Money McKinney and daughters Michele (Ron) Gearheart and April (Chris) Bishop. His greatest blessings were his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Haley (Alex) Mogan, Cody Bishop, Christopher (Courtney) Bishop, JT McKinney, Leah Gearheart, Abyrn Hampton-Mogan, Asher Mogan, Avery Mogan, Axton Mogan, Aspen Mogan and Maverick McKinney; special loved ones Katie Hodges, John and Meg Floyd. Mac is also survived by three brothers Chester (Jane) McKinney, Kenneth (Pat) McKinney, Dave McKinney, sister-in-law, Barbara (Rusty) Pollard, many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with a visitation at 1 PM and service to follow at 2 PM at Cravens-Shires, Bluefield, West Virginia.
