Listen to Obituary

Harold (Bo) Wayne Pennington Sr, 84, a lifelong resident of Montcalm, WV, passed away on June 4, 2026 after a long illness.

Born May 25, 1942 to the late Russ & Lola Pennington in Montcalm. He was a graduate of Montcalm High School (1960).

Bo was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice C Pennington; five sisters & two brothers.

Survivors include his son, Harold (Hal) Wayne Pennington Jr of Huntsville, AL, his devoted sister, Vicky M French of Bluefield, VA & brother, Richard G Pennington of Princeton, WV & many nieces & nephews.

Bo worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for many years & then as an accomplished & talented carpenter & home builder. He loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening, reading, vintage cars & most of all dancing. Bo was strong willed & stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart & a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous & loyal. He was also clever & full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences: mechanic, volunteer firefighter, fisherman, contractor - he could fix or build anything.

He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family & friends. He truly loved each of them & if you knew him, you knew it. He will be sadly missed & will always hold a place in our hearts.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Heritage Hall Tazewell & to Caris (hospice) for their exceptional care, compassion & support.

A private family viewing will be held at 12:30 pm, Monday, June 15 followed by a visitation at 1:00pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton at 2:00 pm.
