Gloria Chewning

Gloria Chewning, 91 of Canonsburg, PA and formerly of McDowell County, passed away on February 7, 2022.

Born on March 8, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Fernando and Nannie DeHart. Some of her many accomplishments include being the Director of the Crippled Children’s Society, 1976 Woman of the Year in West Virginia and WVU Research Associate. She also helped start the Green House Program and was on numerous boards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Chewing, and two sons, Roland “Bo” and David Craig Chewing.

Survivors include her children, Ellen Chewning (Gordon) McKay, grandsons, Justin (Kendra) MCKay and Matthew McKay; and great grandsons, Brandon and Zachary McKay, brother, Bob (Earlene) DeHart; and sisters, Shirley McHaffey and Linda DeHart (Tom) Carver.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
