George Cleon Cottle Jr., 89, of Highland Springs, Virginia, formerly of Oakvale, West Virginia, passed away on April 27, 2026 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Henrico, VA.

George was born on March 30, 1937 near Forest Hill, West Virginia, son of George Cleon Cottle Sr. and Amy Elizabeth Keffer Ramsey Cottle. George was a retired trout farmer, having been co-owner of Twin Fork Trout of Willowton/Oakvale WV. George was active in the Forest Hill Methodist and Fairview Baptist churches most of his life.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Witten Cottle; a son, Christopher Scott Cottle; brother, John E. Cottle; and sisters Christine Buckland and Geneva ‘Jackie’ Disney. Survivors include daughter Rebecca Cottle and wife Priscilla Casteel of Henrico, VA; daughter Kimberly Gatzek and husband Joe Gatzek of Highland Springs, Va; daughter Sarra Hill Cottle of Burnsville, NC; son George Witten Cottle and wife Michelle of Princeton, WV; sister, Leona Meadows of Willowton, WV; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held June 6, 2026: visitation at noon, service at 1p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, Forest Hill, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to Fairview Baptist Church, in care of Michelle Lucas, 13152 Greenville Rd., Forest Hill, WV 24935.
