Frederick Dot Richards

Frederick Dot Richards, 86, of Hardy, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his home. Born September 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Otto and Ethel Bell Farley Richards. He was a graduate of Iaeger High School, a resident of Hardy, VA for thirty years, was of the Baptist faith, and was retired from the Railroad after forty-one years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Scott Richards.

Those left to cherish Frederick’s memory are his wife of 49 years, Betty Blankenship Richards of the home; son, Terry Richards of Bluefield, WV; daughters, Julie Fowler (Bruce), Leah Harris (Rick), both of Hardy, VA, Jamie Shively (Ken) of Danville, VA; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one special great-granddaughter, Lily.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, August 30, 2021 at Craven’s Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating.  Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Green Valley where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
