Ethel Marie Sanders

Ether Marie (Key) Morgan, Sanders was born October 19,1933 in Davy WV. and died July 15th 2025 at 1:30 AM at DCH Tuscaloosa Hospital in Tuscaloosa Alabama. She was 91 years old. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Jean Morgan, her parents Hershel Key and Carolyn Ashley Key, first husband John Lewis Morgan, second Husband Grover Thurel Sanders, brother , Ralph Key , sister Faye Key Privett , step children Linda Sanders Marshall, Anne Sanders Gombash, Beverly Gay Sanders Matusavich.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Lynn Morgan Solonka , (Mark), son Johnny Lee Morgan (Diane), her sisters Gloria Key Pfalzer, Elizabeth Key Salvaldo, brothers, Bennie Key, Eugene Key, Jimmy Key, Randy Key, and one step son Ted Sanders. Grandsons, Joshua Morgan, Brandon Solonka, Jeffery Sanders, Ivan Marshall, Russel Gombash, granddaughters, Kathy Gombash, Carolyn Gombash, Debbie Surface, Jenny Edward, Beth (Matusavich) Stewart, Barbie (Matusavich) Perkins, great grandsons Nicholas Frye, Robbie Surface, great granddaughter Sara Surface. Nieces and nephews Christie Key, Angela Key Lester, Rebecca Key, Amanda Key Towler, Jeffery Pfalzer, Stephanie Koshiol, Mark Key, John Key, Joseph Key, Tony Salvado, Michael Privett.

Ethel made the decision to leave school early in her life to be at home as the oldest of the nine children to help her parents take care of her siblings. Ethel worked at GC Murphy’s in Welch West Virginia for many years before moving to Chicago Illinois where she was a casher for many years at Treasure Island Grocery , upon return to West Virginia she was a devoted housewife and mother. Later she returned to work at the Pocahontas Motel in Welch WV. She was a very hard working woman all of her life. She loved working in her yard planting her flowers and a garden every year.

She was a member on North Welch First Church of God for over 48 years. Her faith was unwavering and she loved unconditionally. She had a magnetic personality that drew people to her. She loved God with all of her heart and it showed. Her church family meant so much to her and she enjoyed spending time with them and cooking for church dinners. Her table was always filled with food and laughter for anyone visiting her home. She loved to sing and listen to gospel music. She will be missed by many but our memories will live on.

Final services will be held in West Virginia at Cravens-Shires funeral home in Bluewell West Virginia on Tuesday July 22nd 2025. Viewing and visitation at 1 PM followed by grave side rights in Woodlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Long officiating . Pall Bearers will be assigned as needed.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
