Estiol Boyd Kessinger

Estiol Boyd Kessinger, born on December 10, 1942, in Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away on September 2, 2025. A proud United States Army Veteran, he honorably served in the Vietnam War, exemplifying bravery and dedication throughout his life and was of the Pentecostal Faith. 

Estiol is remembered for his warm spirit and compassionate heart. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Brenda Mae Jones Kessinger, of Bluefield, West Virginia. Together, they raised a loving family that includes their son, Clifton Boyd Kessinger, and his wife Lisa, residing in Bluefield, West Virginia. Their daughter, Shelby Jean Kessinger, and her husband, Yogie Workman.

He is also survived by his siblings: Larry Kessinger of Radford, Virginia; Patricia McCoy of McCoy, Virginia; Carrie Sue and Brenda, both of Christiansburg, Virginia; and Sandra Simms of Austin, Texas.

Estiol was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Kemper Kessinger and Lucy Mae Smith, as well as his grandson, Dominic Lee Kessinger. Additionally, several of his brothers and sisters have passed before him, leaving a legacy of love and memory.

In remembrance of his life, a visitation will be held on September 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, located at 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. Larry White officiating. A funeral service will follow on September 8, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM, with interment to take place after at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Pallbearers will be Clifton Kessinger, Yogie Workman, Wilson Workman, Terry Jones, and Jeremiah Workman.

Estiol Boyd Kessinger will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His contributions, both in service and in life, will be remembered and honored by family and friends alike. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home of Bluewell, WV is proud to serve the Kessinger family.
