Emily Ruth Hale

Emily Ruth (McKenzie) Hale, 92, of Falls Mills, VA, completed her life’s journey to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

She was born in Mercer County, WV, and was the daughter of the late F. Green McKenzie and Emily Wright McKenzie.

Ms. Hale was a member of the Falls Mills Christian Church for over 70 years and was a very active Sunday School Teacher as well as other ministries. She was retired from Tazewell County Public Schools. She loved God and people with all her heart. She found happiness in serving both alongside her husband Jim at Christian Acres Church Camp. She loved to cook for others and was well known for her homemade light rolls.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy James “Jim” Hale, Sr., grandson, Michael Sikes; and half-brothers, Frank, Modoc, Lawrence, and James McKenzie.

Survivors include her children, Wanda (Carlos) Crawford, Rebecca (Douglal) Sikes, Roy J. “Jim” (Barbara) Hale, Jr., and Rob (Sherrie) Hale; bonus daughter, Barbara (Mac) McCarty; grandchildren, Andy (Elizabeth) Crawford, David (Christy) Sikes, Amy Sikes (Adam) Swiney, Tevia (Roy) Woodie, Dustin (Kim) Hale, Hannah Hale, and Seth (Michele) McCarty; great grandchildren, Nick, Aidan, Mallory, and Lauren Crawford, Mary, Breana, Kendall, Alyssa Sikes;, Tyler Woodie, Tyson, Aubree, and Paxton Hale, and Samantha and Landon McCarty; sisters, Maxine Scott and Libby Tabor.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 10:45AM at the Falls Mills Christian Church with Rick Mathena Officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call from 10:00-10:45 at the church.
