Elsie Louise Gibson

Elsie Louise Gibson, 87, of Sparta, NC, formerly of Switchback, WV, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. She was born on June 12, 1938 at Elkhorn, WV. She was a housewife. She was the daughter of the late John and Effie Crigger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gibson of 58 years and three grandsons, Kevin Eldridge, James Eric Gibson, and Logan Gibson; two brothers, Monroe Crigger and Donald Crigger; sister, Elizabeth Whittington.

Those left to cherish Elsie's memory are her sister, Virginia Roberts; son, James Gibson and wife, Lynn of Sparta, NC; two daughters, Pamela Lafferty and husband, Michael of Sparta, NC, and Penny Wagg of Sparta, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Gibson of Bramwell, WV. She has 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Burial and graveside service will be conducted on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Ja'Koby Gibson, Jacob Saddler, Duke Gibson, Austin Billings, Damien Gidson, and Jacob Willians.
