Elizabeth Jane Simmons, 92, of Bluefield, WV passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born March 14, 1933 in Bluefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late Adam McKinley Crisco and Minnie Elizabeth Davis Crisco.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Simmons; and two daughters, Carmella Jessee, Karen Wilson and Great Grandson McKinley Justus.
Those left to cherish Elizabeth's memory are her children, Kelly Simmons and his wife Teresa Simmons of North Carolina, and Vicki Peele and her late husband James Peele of Sellersburg, Indiana; Her grandchildren: Joshua Jessee, Meygan Simmons, Ashley Justus and spouse Bobby Justus, Emily Simmons and spouse Zoe Simmons, Brandon Peele, and Kaitlin Perkins and Spouse Graham Perkins, and her great-grandchildren: Blakely Justus, Walke Leichty, Addy Jessee, Wesleigh Simmons, Denton Simmons, Braylon Simmons, and Everett Justus.
Elizabeth was a member of Maple View Church of Christ and was a loving Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Friend. She was a skilled crafter and lover of antiques. Whether it was working at her antique store or refinishing furniture to crafting spectacular wreathes; she was always driven to work hard and create beauty out of items that were old or new.
Elizabeth “Libby” “Granny” will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and her special talent for finding joy—and great deals—wherever she went. And I must add the most beautiful legs ever.
Gran loved thrift shopping and had a knack for spotting treasures others might miss. When she wasn’t hunting for bargains, she enjoyed birdwatching, working out in her yard, crafting, spending time with family and friends, and loving on her cats.
Her faith in Jesus guided her life, and her kindness touched everyone who knew her. But her greatest joy was always her family. No matter how near or far, she was always comforting her family—so consistent in her loving phone calls.
Elizabeth leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and a family who will forever think of her whenever they spot a good thrift store find, hear birds chirping, or a cat meowing—and smile, remembering her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, March 9, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.Special Thanks to Pallbearers Kelly Simmons, Jimmy Michael, Bobby Justus, Brandon Peele and Graham Perkins.
