Edward Allen Hughes, 78, of Pageton, WV, passed Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at his home.
Born May 6, 1946, in Welch, WV, he was a son of the late Clark and Mae Painter Hughes. Edward worked as plumber for the McDowell Board of Education. He was a member of Thorpe United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia M. Hughes; in-laws, Samuel and Dorothy Moore; sister, Katherine Hughes; and sister-in-law, Barbara Hughes.
Those left to cherish Edward's memory are his brother, James C. Hughes, Sr., of Princeton, WV; nieces, Jami Horton and husband Harold of Alvin, TX, Elizabeth Sherbani-agdam and husband Reza of Silver Springs, MD; nephews, James C. Hughes, Jr., and wife Erin of Monteverde, FL, and Jason Hughes and wife Carrie of Princeton, WV; 9 special great nieces and nephews; great-niece, Ashley Sherbani-agdam of Silver Springs, MD; sister-in-law, Gloria Weinman of Princeton, WV; brother-in-law, David Moore and wife Anita of Princeton, WV; special cousin Eva Colopietra; special caregivers, Nina Obey and Aleta Nance; and many special life-long friends and a loving community that helped take care of him throughout his illness.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. A visitation will be held prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
