Beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend departed this life on May 29, 2023.

 

Douglas, also known as “Doogie,” was born on February 9, 1969 in Louisville, KY to the late Douglas Harris, Sr. and Betty Ramsey Harris. He is one of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Betty; grandparents, Girlie Ramsey and John and Jane Harris; two sisters, Lavera and Trina; and brother, Eric.

 

Douglas gave his life to God at an early age as a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. He was very active in church in his younger years. He most enjoyed his family and traveling to Bluefield to see them. In his later years, he relocated to Bluefield where he graduated from Bluefield High School. He met his wife Pamela and began to build his life. Douglas worked for the city of Bluefield as a bus driver and later retired from Princeton Community Hospital. 

 

Douglas leaves behind his wife, Pam Harris; two stepchildren, Nicole and Justin Baskin; daughters, Chari Peavey and Amber Carruthers; aunts, Tokita and Janet Harris; brother, Roland Gore; sister, Lonet Peavy; and too many cousins to name. He will be missed by all.

 

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Esters officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Harris family.
