Douglas Gordon Baker, Jr.

Douglas Gordon Baker, Jr., 64, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Mercer Health Care Center, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Born May 6, 1959 in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late Douglas “Buddy” and Hazel Combs Baker of Bluefield, WV. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by both of his siblings, his brothers, Barry and Michael Baker of Bluefield, WV.

Those Doug had to leave behind are his four sons, Clyde Baker and wife, Heather, of Bluefield, WV, Douglas Baker III and wife, Heather of Orange, VA, Jonathan Baker of Orange, VA, and Samuel Baker and fiancé, Sheena Shrader of Walkertown, NC; and five nieces and nephews.

Doug’s 12 grandchildren, Clyde Baker, Jr. of Bluefield, WV, Jessica Baker and boyfriend, Russell Ball of Bluefield, WV, Jean Baker and boyfriend, Trey Clark of Bluefield, WV, Julian Gagnon of St. Cloud, MN, Jadyn Gagnon of St. Cloud, MN, Alexis Baker of Orange, VA, Melina Baker of Desomossville, KY, Makinzey Baker of Desomossville, KY, Madison Peters of Desomossville, KY, Chloe Gregory of Springville, VA, Landon Baker of Walkertown, NC, and Aspyn Baker of Walkertown, NC.

Doug’s two great-grandchildren are Elena and Kolson Testerman of Bluefield, WV.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Baker family.
