Donald "Don" Stewart Dickerson Sr., a member of the Princeton community, was born on August 9, 1946, and passed away on February 17, 2026, at Beckley ARH. He lived a full life dedicated to his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love.
Don had a diverse career as a retired coal miner and truck driver, gaining respect for his hard work and dedication throughout the years. He found joy in simple pleasures, particularly in going fishing, and created precious memories with his family, whom he loved dearly. As a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith, Don demonstrated his commitment to his beliefs and values. His steadfast devotion to his family is remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Dickerson Jr. and Greta of Princeton, Gregory Dickerson of Princeton, Daniel Dickerson of Princeton, Randall Dickerson of Princeton, daughter Janice Cunningham of Bluewell, and his sister Patricia Williams of Mt Airy, NC. Don was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and cherished the joy of 20 great-grandchildren as well, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Dickerson and Dora Tiller Dickerson; his wife, Joyce Jennings Dickerson; and his son, John Dickerson. He is also remembered for his union with Mary Greene Dickerson, who remains in the hearts of many.
Visitation will be held on February 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes in Bluefield, West Virginia. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate Don's life and honor the many memories that will forever remain in their hearts. He will be buried at the Jennings-Grose Cemetery in Matoka at a later date. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is proud to serve the Dickerson Family.
