Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV
"20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself."

On Friday evening, February 20, 2026, David (Moose) Wayne Thomas, 61 of Bluefield, WV opened his eyes in Heaven totally healed and with Jesus! He made a promise to Dad that he would see him again. He gave his heart to the Lord and was ready to see Him! I can only imagine him at the feet of Jesus! No more pain. Whole! Worshipping with Mom and Dad and a whole heritage of family! David was born in Lynchburg, VA on July 12, 1964 to Carl C. Thomas, Jr. and Joyce Barnette Thomas who both preceded him in death.

David worked as a police officer in Pocahontas, VA, a security guard in several locations, and what was his most loved job at Bluefield Rescue Squad for many years until becoming disabled. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was healthy. He got the most enjoyment when he was with family. We would talk, laugh, sing and eat. David loved his nieces and nephews and picking on all of them! He tried to convince his daughter and nieces how good a tuna and peanut butter sandwich was. They never tried but he grinned while cringing inwardly, as he ate one to show them it was good. Many memories have been made with The Moose!

Preceding David in death were his parents, a brother-in-law, Shawn Sizemore and our sister, Gerri Lynn Thomas Sizemore who passed away December 22, 2025.Surviving David is his daughter, Rebecca (Josh) Pilkins and grandchildren, Raigha, Beau and Georgia (Miss Peach) of Bluefield, WV. He also leaves a sister Kathy (Ronnie) Payne and brother Joey (Tammy) Thomas. Nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly, are Jennifer (Caleb) Gibbons, Robert D. W. (Brittany) Thomas, Amanda (Joe) Stewart, Kirsten Thomas, Dustin Dunkley, Hannah (Richard) Evans, Carlie (Tyler) Laws and Abigail (Luis) Sizemore. Great nieces and nephews are Jazmin (Tyler), Chloe (Mason), CJ, Cameron, Danny, Alex, Cheyenne, Riley, Skylyn, Logan, Gracie, Malachi, Emery, Jaxon, Maverick, Cleo, Kaleigh, Zeke, Lainey and Georgia. Also expected are 2 great-great blessings from Heaven. Special friends who visited and prayed with him during his last week were Ronnie Hodge, Jay and Kelly Ferguson, Tony and Dana McPeak and their grandson, Steven. Also, Scott Catron, Stephanie Forbes, Charlene Zeisig, Philip and Tara White. Also, special aunt, Doris (Gran) Minnix was able to be with us and cousins Jodi and Eve Shrewsbury.

We've prayed and sang. Laughed and wept. We are so thankful to God David enjoyed his last days! The family wants to express our thankfulness to Jennifer Thompson, who cared for David faithfully for over 2 years while he was able to be home. Also thank you to all at Mercer Healthcare and Compassus Hospice who had helped him with having an easier transition to Heaven. David's wishes were to be cremated with no services. We mourn but know we can and will see him again if we accept Jesus Christ's gift of salvation and eternal life!
