David Carrington Nester

David Carrington Nester, 60, of Bluefield, WV passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg, VA. Born March 19, 1961 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of Rachel Spangler Nester and the late William Henry “Buddy” Nester. David was a lifelong Bluefield resident, a driver for Bluefield Area Transit and was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Nester; sister, Regina “Chris” Harrison; and grandson, Jaxon Blaze Nester.

Those left to cherish David’s memory are his mother, Rachel Nester of Bluewell, WV; sons, Dakota “Kody” Nester (Amanda) of Duhring, WV, and Jacob Nester (Leandra) of Rock, WV; daughters, Brittany Nester Scott (Patrick), and Missy Proffitt, both of Bluefield, VA; the mother of his children, Feleesha Hederick Moran; brothers, Ricky Nester and Darrell Nester, both of Bluewell, WV; sister, Deborah “Debbie” Heil of Bluefield, WV; and four grandchildren, Dylan and Xander Nester, and Nadia and Jason Scott.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In keeping with David’s wishes, he will be cremated.  Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Nester family.
