Born on September 26, 1947, in Montcalm, WV, he was a son of the late Dallas Dewey Hubbard and Pauline Sheets Hubbard Lucado. Dallas went to Montcalm High School and shortly after school he moved to Flint, MI to work at the Chevrolet Truck and Bus plant. He then returned to the Montcalm area where he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam Era where he was a medic. He then married his wife, Linda Kay “Katie” Hager Hubbard in 1969 and started his family soon after in 1970.
Dallas had several vocations as he worked in the coal mines, sold insurance, Pepsi plant and Coca-Cola plant before settling down and working for the Virginia Department of Corrections from 1984 until his retirement in 2007. He was #7 of the first 13 paramedics in the state of WV. He loved to build things and helped others as he could. He loved to trade and “wheel and deal”. His favorite thing was cars. He loved to show off his antique cars, going to car shows, and tinkering around his garage.
Dallas was a member of the Grand Lodge of WV AF&AM, Bluefield Mercer Masonic Lodge #85 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Blue/Gray Chapter #628 and for several years he was the leader in the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard where military services were provided.
