Curtis Eugene Vannoy

Curtis Eugene "Smokey" Vannoy, 85 of Airport Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on September 16, 2022.

Born on May 18, 1937 in Northfork, he was a son of the late William J. and Hattie Javins Vannoy. He was a loving husband and wonderful father. He was married for 57 ½ years to Peggy Jean Sparks Vannoy and she survives him along with their daughter, Lori (Dave) Gillespie of Moneta, VA, and sons, Bill (Karen) Vannoy of Lexington, SC, and Steve Vannoy (Azul Terronez) of Austin, TX; sister, Carol (Bob) Day of Bluefield, WV, grandchildren, Robbie of Bluefield,Curt (Lexi) Wriston of Christiansburg, VA, Josiah of San Diego, CA, Skylar of Austin, TX; a special friend who was like a son, Jim Joyce of Florence, SC; several other relatives, friends, and special neighbors Judy Taylor, Bunnie and Bill Williams, and Donnie Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Vernon and Billie; and sisters Mamie and Katie.

He was a 1955 graduate of Northfork High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a retired welder from Coppinger Machinery and EIMCO with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Elks #1459 and the Moose Lodge 1521. He had been a member of Mountaineer Bowling Lanes for 60 years.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the Westwood Center and their nurses and staff.

A celebration of life will be held at the Mountaineer Bowling Lanes on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 3:30pm.
