Cora Mae Wimmer

Cora Mae Wimmer, 91, of Yards VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Westwood Medical Center. Born October 12, 1929 in Nemours, WV she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Rye.

Cora loved her family dearly. She worked hard her whole life up until she was 79 years old taking care of others. Cora was a lifelong member of Falls Mills Christian Church where she had many dear friends. She was known as "Granny" by many as she loved all of the neighborhood children as her own.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband A.E. Wimmer Sr. sons W.C. "Butch" Radford, A.E. "Eddie" Wimmer Jr, James "Dubby" Wimmer, daughter, Glenda Faye Wimmer, grandson Eddie "Squirt" Wimmer, sisters, Ora Phipps of Nemours, WV, Mary Combs of SC, two infant brothers, and Nephew Jimmy Combs of SC.

She is survived by son Allen and Cindy Wimmer of Falls Mills, VA. Grandsons, Richard and Brittney Janey of Florida, William "Billy" Heldreth of Yards, VA, Joshua and Starla Wimmer of Springville, VA. Granddaughter Haley Wimmer and fiance Garrett Dishman of Falls Mills, VA, grandson Bobby Ray and Tina Wimmer of Maryland, Granddaughter Tina Wimmer, great grandsons, Landon Janey, Dalton Janey, Bocepheus Wimmer, and Conway Wimmer. Great granddaughters, Emilyn Janey, and Paisley Mae Wimmer, her name sake. Nephew, David and Bonnie Phipps of Nemours, WV. Great nephews, Craig "Eric" and Dawn Phipps, Stacey Combs and great niece Melissa Combs.

Cora also considered Thomas Dodd, Calvin Dowell Jr, Danny Skeens, Jeff Price, and the late J.D. Lawson as part of her extended family.

The family would like to give mention and  a special thank you to Sandy Mathena for being so kind and attentive to Cora during COVID and during her last months here on earth.

Friends may call from 5:30pm to 8:00pm on July 21, 2021 at Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with funeral to follow at 8:00pm officiated by Brother Ron Tabor. After the visitation and funeral, Cora will be cremated as per her wishes and graveside rites will be given by Rev. Darrell Bailey when the ashes are buried at the Rye Cemetery in Nemours, WV.
