Christie Ann Szakacs

Christie Ann Szakacs, 61, of Bluefield, VA, departed this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 10, 1960 in Union, WV, she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Anna Alberta Campbell Mabe.  She was a faithful member of MapleView Church of Christ. She enjoyed sending cards to comfort others, loved music and playing the piano. She was a respiratory therapist and sleep technologist. But, above all, Christie lived to love her husband and family by living daily by the fruit of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control). 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jody Campbell. 

Survivors include her husband, Ernest “Ernie” Szakacs of the home; daughters, Jill Szakacs of Bluefield, WV, Daphne (Steve) Spencer of Princeton, WV, Jennifer Hagerman of Bluefield, VA; son, Josh Szakacs of Bluefield, WV; siblings, Maria Mabe Tabor and husband George Cecil of East Bend, NC, Kevin Wayne Mabe and wife Joyce Chris of Rock, WV, and Jennifer Mabe Collins and husband Tommy of Pembroke, VA; grandchildren, Taylor (Greg) Booher, Andy Spencer, Jillian Spencer, Ean Hagerman, and Jack Hagerman; 2 great grandchildren, Micah and Wrenley; sister in law, Anna (Butch) Stamper of Bluewell; and a host of nieces and nephews and a great-niece and great-nephew. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the MapleView Church of Christ, 194 Robbins Rest Road, Bluefield, WV, with Minister Buddy Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

Friends may call prior to services, from 11:00-1:00 on Thursday at the church.
