Charles Thomas Byers, Jr., 78, of Bluefield, WV passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at the V.A. Medical Center in Beckley, WV. Born June 14, 1947 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Charles Thomas Byers, Sr. and Mabel Pearl Craft Byers. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and worked for Montgomery Ward and Bluefield Beverage Company. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Byers and a sister, Betty Shoaf. He was a member of Falls Mills Christian Church.

Those who are left to cherish Charles' memory are his special friend, Tammy Byers of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Amanda Hall and husband, Jacob; son, Charles Thomas Byers III and fiancé Carrie Gibson of Bluefield, WV; granddaughter, Gabriella Gibson; and a nephew, Tony Shoaf and wife Sue. 

A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2026 at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating. The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, Charles requested balloons to be sent to funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
