Carolyn Jill Jackson Thompson, 86, of Bluefield, WV, passed Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home with her family surrounding her.
Born August 7, 1939, in Twin Branch, WV, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Elizabeth A. Chambers Jackson. Carolyn had been a resident of Mercer County for over 44 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an active church member at Bluewell United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a previous member of the Bluefield Women's Moose Club.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Everett Thompson; infant son, Alan Keith Thompson; brother, James Jackson; and sisters, Mary Jackson Walker and Betty Jackson Green. Granddaughter Leah Gail Thompson.
Those left to cherish Carolyn's memory are her son, Basil E. Thompson, Jr., of Bluefield, WV; daughters, Wanda G. Thompson, of the home, and Gwendolyn S. Miller and husband Rick, of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Jeffrey Jackson and wife Rebecca of Mint Hill, NC; sister, Phyllis Jackson Underwood of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, Lisa Hedrick and husband Leland, Karri Hitt, Hunter Thompson, and Hailey Thompson; great grandchildren, Abby Hedrick, Josh Hedrick, Dexter Hitt, and Sydney Hitt; special friends, Mike and Lisa Horton, Michelle Tackett, and Debbie Hedrick; and her special pets, Maggie and Michonne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV, with Rev. Sheri Kernik officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, with Mike Horton, Christian Horton, Cameron Stevens, Caden Stevens, Leland Hedrick, and Joshua Hedrick serving as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
