Carol Jean Powell

Carol Jean Powell, 78, of State Road, NC, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. 

Born on December 20, 1946 in Keystone, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joe Woodrow and Bertha Virginia Finney Graham. She was a retired Postmaster of 30 years and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Powell, Sr.; brothers, Richard “Dickie” Graham, Billy “Scooter” Graham, and Ted Graham, sisters, Debbie Millirones, Sue Mahaffey, Betty Teal and Dolly Maxwell.

Survivors include her son, Bobby Joe Powell, Jr., of State Road, NC; a grandson, Brandon Powell of State Road, NC; sisters, Joann Eagle of Melvin, MI and Vickie “Princess” (Randy) Nichols of McDowell County, WV

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Houk officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers. 

Friends may call on Thursday prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
