Listen to Obituary

Carmen Renae Parks, 49, of Princeton, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by love.

Carmen was fiercely loyal to the people she loved. Once you were in her corner, you were there for life. She had a kind heart that revealed itself in quiet, meaningful ways—through listening without judgment, offering a helping hand, or simply being present when it mattered most.

Generosity came naturally to Carmen. She gave freely of her time, her resources, and herself, always looking for ways to help others without expecting anything in return. Whether supporting family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers, she believed deeply in doing the right thing and in taking care of one another.

Carmen courageously fought her battle over the last several years, meeting each challenge with remarkable strength and quiet determination. Through every setback, she demonstrated unwavering resilience and an unbreakable spirit, never allowing her circumstances to define her. Her steady resolve inspired those around her and offered comfort and courage to the family and friends who witnessed her perseverance firsthand. Carmen faced her journey with grace, dignity, and fierce determination—she was, in every sense of the word, the ultimate warrior.

Born on March 14, 1976, Carmen was the daughter of Danny R. Parks and Brenda G. Parks. She was a graduate of Bluefield High School and Bluefield University and spent her professional career in the banking and mortgage industry. She attended Princeton Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Danny R. Parks, Jr.

Survivors include her partner who she loved deeply John Reed; her aunts, Betty Williams (Eddie), and Shirley Brunty; her nieces and nephews, Peyton, Trey, Brennan, Brooklynn, Patrick, Cooper, Carter, and Elizabeth; and her beloved dogs, Ruby and Roxie.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Craven-Shires Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Ed Pettus officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Princeton Presbyterian Church or the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
