Carl Junior Workman

Carl Junior Workman, 64, of Anawalt died after a lengthy illness on December 3, 2022, at his home with his wife and son by his side.  He was born January 8, 1958, in Welch, WV, the son of Hurley Howard Workman and Betty Jean Day Bailey.

Carl attended McDowell County Schools.  After school he worked at Perdue Ashland Service Station.  He later began his career in the Coal Industry in 1979.  He worked for various coal companies and last worked for Sally Ann Coal Company as Chief Electrician. He retired in January 2021 after 42 years of service.  He married the love of his life, Patricia Lambert in 1989.  They celebrated 33 years of marriage in September.  Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, carpentry, working on cars, grilling for his family & riding in the mountains while his health permitted.

In addition to his parents & stepfather, Ronald Bailey, he was predeceased by his brothers, Howard Workman, Danny Workman, sister Katherine "Jenny" Workman and his mother and father-in-law Beulah and Newton Lambert who he loved as his parents.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia (Lambert) Workman are his son, Jonathan (Kaitlyn) Workman, daughter Melissa (Chris) East, grandchildren, Gabe "Spud" Workman, Brantley "Fat Rat" Workman, a grandson to be born in January, Alyssa East, Brandon Fullbright and 2 great grandchildren, Sisters Anna (Mark) Scott, Betty Scott, brother Donnie (Susan) Workman, half siblings Lishia Workman, Sherry Workman, Billy Workman, Clarence Workman, Steve Workman and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home at 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV, with Rev. Jimmy Sanson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
