Brenda Gay Lawson

Brenda Gay Lawson, 73, of Lindside, WV, born and raised in McDowell County and lived the last 20 years in Mt. Airy, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Johnson-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA surrounded by family.

Born on November 25, 1949, in Welch, WV, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Martillie Knuckles Lester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawson Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Lawrence of Peterstown, WV, Jamie Lawson of Princeton, WV, and June Pugh of Beckley, WV; brothers, Doug Lester, Larry Lester, and Roger Lester all of NC; sisters, Oma Lambert, Betty Lester, Faye Lester, and Linda Thomas all of NC; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Rebecca Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
