Brenda Joyce Denton

Brenda Joyce Denton, 85, of Big Four, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Pikeville Medical Center. Brenda was born March 4, 1941 in Powhatan, WV to Alvie Graham, Sr. and Rosetta Graham Saunders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Denton; four brothers, Jack Graham, Charles "Chisel" Graham, Franklin "Nub" Graham, and Alvie "Buster" Graham; sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Graham; and two grandchildren, Amanda Denton and David A. Denton, Jr.

Those left to cherish Brenda's amazing life are her children, David A. Denton, Sr. "Bird" and wife, Maywanda of North Carolina, Homer L. Denton "Pee Wee" and wife, Linda "Sissy," James L. Denton "Chuck" and wife, Dianna, Douglas W. Denton, Sr. and wife Naomi "Ann," Debby L. Denton Stillwell and husband, James "Jamie," all of West Virginia; grandchildren, Teri Denton, Michael Denton "Mike" and wife, Samantha, Jessica Phillips and husband, Chucky, Rebecca Byrd and husband, Biff, Kimberly Denton and wife, Tori West, Jamie Denton and wife, Ashley, and James R. Denton. Brenda had a special bond with these grandchildren and always thought of them as her own, Brandon Denton, Jamie Stillwell "Jame" and significant other, Michelle, Justin Stillwell and significant other, Savannah, Bradley Stillwell, Douglas Denton Jr., "Dougie" and wife, Karli, Austin Denton and wife, Megan, and numerous other great-grandchildren.

Brenda is also survived by siblings, Mary Massey, Peg Hill and husband, Joe, Norma Smithson and significant other, Arnold, Kay Foley and husband, Curt, all of Virginia, Audrey Denton "Mackie" of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda was an amazing woman of God. She was a life-long member of the Big Four Pentecostal Holiness Church and she enjoyed being with her church family. She was a caretaker of everyone. Her family was blessed to share life with her and she will certainly be missed immensely by all, until everyone joins together in Heaven. Brenda was loved by many and she truly made the world a better place while she graced it. Brenda had a heart of gold, and loved selflessly. She was a beautiful soul with a beautiful smile.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Hankla and Rev. Susan Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
