Bonny Jean Underwood

Bonny Jean Underwood, 85, of Rock, WV, passed Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Westwood Medical Center. 

Born November 30, 1938, in Beartown, WV, she was a daughter of the late Estell and Nova Farley Bailey. Bonny was retired from Maidenform working in Princeton, WV, as well as a homemaker. She was a resident of Rock for over 56 years. Bonny was a member of Rock United Methodist Church, she was a member of the choir as well as the quartet. 

In addition to her parents, Bonny was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Underwood, Sr., daughter, Donna Huffman King; brother-in-law, George Harman; nephew John Harman; brother, Bobby Bailey; and sister-in-law, Linda Bailey.

Those left to cherish Bonny’s memory are her sons, James D. Underwood, Jr. and wife Jennifer, and John Underwood and Jackie McPherson; daughter, Brenda Gardner; brothers, Amos Bailey and wife Betty, and Myles Bailey; twin sister Betty Harman; sister-in-law, Francis Bailey; many nieces and a nephew whom she loved; grandchildren, Micheal King, Alan King, Cassandra Underwood, Megan Underwood, Gabriel Ford, Cagney Gardner, and Jaden McPherson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Mabe officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
