Betty Lou McCormick

Betty Lou McCormick, 78, of Bluefield, WV passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Princeton Healthcare Center. Born November 8, 1943 in Abbs Valley, VA, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Edith Victoria Graham Mitchem. She was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Bridge Church in Princeton and was a housewife and worked for Amar Uniform Company. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin McCormick; sister, Judith Lewis; brothers, Clarence Mitchem, Clifford Mitchem, Jr., and Benny Mitchem.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her son, Johnny Atwell, Jr. (Jessica) of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Ann Funk of Thomasville, NC; brothers, Jackie Mitchem of Pocahontas, VA, and Lonnie Mitchem of Trinity, NC; sisters, Nellie Murphy of Trinity, NC, Dorothy Auton of Coaldale, WV, Mary Wyatt of Trinity, NC, and Shirley Marrs of Trinity, NC; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Day officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will be later at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the McCormick family.
