Listen to Obituary

In Loving Memory of Betty Sue Thomas Honaker, November 15, 1946 – November 3, 2026. Betty Sue Thomas Honaker , a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of God, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at 2:50 p.m., with her grandson by her side, holding her hand. Betty loved the Lord with every fiber of her being. She was a licensed Gospel worker whose faith was not simply something she professed, but something she lived each and every day. Although her feeble body eventually kept her from getting out as much as she would have liked, it never kept her from serving the Lord. She faithfully prayed for her family and called upon the name of Jesus time and time again, even praying others through their darkest moments. Her body may have grown weary, but her faith never stopped reaching for the Lord.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Claude Thomas and Montrey Thomas Shrader; her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Curtis Larry Honaker Sr., who passed away November 4, 2024; her two sons, Curtis Larry Honaker Jr. and Keith Honaker; her brother, Ralph Thomas; her granddaughters, Hannah Shrader and Faith Shrader; and her great-grandson, Landon Sayers.

She leaves behind her three loving daughters: Debbie Osborn and her husband, Otis; Melissa Luna and her husband, Al; and Robin Mayhle and her significant other, Jess. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kayla Hall and her husband, Randy; Travis Osborn and his wife, Melissa; Jonah Shrader and his wife, LeeAnn; Jessica Duff and her husband, Jesse Duff; Samantha; Madison; Jonathan Shrader and his wife, Shanel; Aaron Honaker and his wife, Alicia; and Katie and her husband, Brian. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: April, Rebekah, Ethan, Wynonna, Rowan, Ismara, Kailey, Eli, Felix, Alex, and Araeah.

At 2:50 p.m. on November 3, Betty took her last breath here on earth. At that very moment, she entered the presence of her Creator. We often reflected together on what our glorified bodies would be like. Our human minds cannot begin to comprehend the beauty of that promise, but dear Momma/Mawmaw now knows. The body that once struggled and grew weary has been made new. She is breathing better than ever before, free from the limitations of this earthly life, and resting in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. While our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that this earthly goodbye is not the end. We hold fast to the promises of God and look forward to the day when we will be reunited.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Tim Lacy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell in Bluewell. Friends may call prior to services, from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.

As Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7–8 (KJV): "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Dear Momma/Mawmaw, you have fought your fight, finished your course, and kept the faith. Your earthly journey is complete, your suffering is over, and you are breathing better than ever before. Your prayers, your faith, and the love you poured into your family will remain with us. Until we meet again. We certainly recognize that our family is made up of many unique personalities and attributes, but the one thing we will always have in common is our love for our matriarch. With all the love we have, and then some, please wait for us. Welcome us with open arms as each of us is called home, in God's appointed time, to meet Jesus and be reunited once again. We love you, Momma/Mawmaw. Until that glorious reunion.
