Betty Jones Charles

Betty Jones Charles, 94, of Timberlake, NC, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at her home. Born November 25, 1928, in Beckley, WV, she was a daughter of the late Stuart Ause and Ora Bailey Jones. She had retired from GTE as a telephone operator and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Timberlake, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ethelbert “Bert” Harrison Charles; brothers, Steward Jones Jr. and James Jones; and sister, Dora Kemp.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Bert Charles II, of McCalla, Alabama, Keith Charles, of Catawba, North Carolina, David Charles, of Payson, Utah, and Derwin Charles, of Timberlake, NC; brother, Lewis Jones of Neeses, South Carolina; sisters, June Lindsey, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, Carrie Clark and Nellie Cox, both of Greensboro, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2023, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Rev. Johnathan Cox officiating.
