Betsy Carol Kelly (Bailey) 73, of Montcalm, WV went home to be with the lord on Monday, August 31st, 2026, at her family home. Born on December 1st 1952 in Johnny Cake, WV at the family homeplace. She was the beloved daughter of the late Van Leffige Bailey and Hattie Hazel (Penley) Bailey. 

Betsy was a longtime resident of Montcalm but was a McDowell County native. She attended Welch High school and was a Bluefield State College graduate. She was a member of the Christian Missions Church in Brushfork, WV. She enjoyed listening to preaching and attending church, spending time in her garden, but most of all she loved being surrounded by her family. 

In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Robert Marvin Kelly, 6 brothers; Bernard "Frill", Eddie, Marvin, Thurman, Howard, and Ernest Bailey, 7 sisters; Clara, Pauline, Omey, Effie, Gracie, Glada, and Ethel Bailey, and her son in law, John Mays Jr. To cherish her memory, she leaves behind 2 daughters, Robin Charlene Mays and Angel Dawn Verna Carver (David Carver), 2 Granddaughters, Ashley Nichole Meadows (Keith Meadows) and Olivia Michelle Mays (Ben Hall), 3 Grandsons, Noah Robert Carver (Savannah Johnson), Jacob Eli Carver, and Isaac Samuel Carver. 9 great grandchildren, Abigail Leigh Meadows, Xavier Sean Meadows, Alivia Grace Meadows, Gavin Robert Meadows, Kayleigh Aunah Isabellah Meadows, Dawson Jeremiah Meadows, Laylani Virginia Dawn Meadows, Lorelai June Hall, and Paisley Grace Hall, last living sibling, sister Opal Stiltner, special sister in law, Mary Woolridge, and an abundance of nieces and nephews that she loved very much. 

Services will be as follows; Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm, and funeral will be held Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11am at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Chris Wolford and Douglas Sluss officiating. Directly following the funeral service we will lay her in her final resting place at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield, Wv. David Carver, Jason Woolridge, Keith Meadows, Ben Hall, Noah Carver, and Jacob Carver will serve as her pallbearers. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is proud to serve the Kelly family.
