Bernice Paris

Bernice “June” Paris, 92, of Groveland Drive Bluefield, WV passed peacefully at her home Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Born and raised in Lincoln County WV on January 1, 1929 she was she oldest of 12 children, the mother of 4, grandmother of 10, great-grandmother of 14, and great-great-grandmother of 7. She was a homemaker until her husband passed. She then worked as a caretaker until she moved to North Carolina. She was of the Church of Christ faith and attended faithfully until she was no longer able to.

She was the oldest daughter of the late Sally and Ike Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wetzel Paris; daughter, Sharon Culver; 2 sons in law, Pete Brooks and Cliff Culver; sisters, Patty Whizlett, Shirley Toney; and brothers in law, Pete Toney and Gail Porter.

Survivors include three children, Clinton “Doug” and Donna Paris of WV, Denise “Louise” and the late Pete Brooks of WV; Wetzel Anthony “Tony” and Jamie Paris of NC; brothers and sisters, Ray and Pearl Nelson of OH, James and Edna Nelson of TN, Carol and Tom Maynard of IL, Janet and the late Gail Porter of WV, Jack and Jackie Nelson of TX, Rick and Judy Nelson of TN, Keith and Shirley Nelson of OH, Paul and Linda Nelson of WV, Robert and Vickie Nelson of OH; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie and Joe Simmons, Diane and Emmett Lanter, Melissa Paris, Robin and Choukri Brooks, Gail and David Parker; Kaylee and BJ Tate, Trestin Paris, London Paris, and James and Steven; 14 great grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Minister David Parker officiating.

Friends may call prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
