Arvella Crites Grose

Arvella Crites Grose, 92, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at her home.  Born April 12, 1929 in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Lola Bergdoll Crites.  Arvella was a resident of Bluewell, WV for 67 years, was a housewife, and a member of the Voice of Praise Worship Center where she taught Sunday School.  In addition to her parents, Arvella was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Grose; son, Alvin L. Grose; and brothers, Calvin, Eston and Ralph Crites.

Those left to cherish Arvella’s memory are her daughters, Shirley Sadler and husband, Barry, of Brushfork, WV, and Palma (Pam) Sarver and husband, Kenneth, of Bluewell, WV; daughter-in-law, Pamela Grose of Bluewell, WV; grandchildren, Kelly Adkins, Jason Sarver (Dana), Matthew Grose (Becca), and Andrew Grose (Krystal); great-grandchildren, Shawn Adkins, Brandi Adkins, Ashlynn Sarver, Keith Sarver, Jaxson Grose, and Charity Grose; and the last living sister-in-law, Louise Morris of Narrows, VA. Special thanks and appreciation to Arvella’s caregivers, Janet Hoops, Clarence and Phyllis Fulcher, Faye Miller, and Compasses Hospice of Princeton, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 16, 2021 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor N.R. Taylor officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday, April 19, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers please send memorial gifts to Voice of Praise Worship Center, 9952 New Hope Road, Bluefield, WV 24701. In following with CDC regulations, facial coverings will be required, and social distancing will be followed.  Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Grose family.
