“He speaks, and the sound of his voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
I’d stay in the garden with Him,
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
And He walks with me, and He talks to me,
And he tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.”
Anita I. “Nana” Farmer, 80, a life-long resident of Montcalm, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021. She was the greatest mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother any child could ever hope for. She was an amazing cook and homemaker with a contagious, spunky spirit that many loved to be around. One of the last comments she made was: “The Big Man is coming to get me on Monday!” . . . and he gathered her up in his loving arms to take her home just like she said he would. She loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our mother will be deeply missed, and her loving care will never be replaced but live on in our hearts forever. We love you Mom, and we will see you again someday in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Randy Farmer; her parents, Andrew and Helen Goodman; sisters, Joyce LaFon, Elaine Andrigo, and Jacqueline Trebes; and brother, William “Bill Mack” Goodman.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her son, Sonny Farmer (Wendy) of Princeton, WV; daughters, Carla Smith (Glenn) of Staffordsville, KY, and Darla Mullins (Terry) of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, Taylor Smith (Tiffany), Zack Farmer (Merry), Carlee Salisbury (Patrick), Savannah Farmer (Dusty), Colton Moore (Courtney), Trevor Mullins (Bethany), Marlee Farmer (Anthony), and Drake Mullins (Kaylee); great-granddaughters, Hadleigh Taylor and A’Nahla Grace; great-grandsons, Baron and Ashton Craft; special family member, Terika Meadows (Zack); sister-in-law, Wanda Goodman; special caregivers, Ellen Farmer and the Riverview Health Care Center Staff in Prestonsburg, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends she cherished deeply.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where Taylor Smith, Zack Farmer, Colton Moore, Trevor Mullins, Drake Mullins, and Patrick Salisbury will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shires.com.
