Thurman Whitt Perdue, age 74, of 1143 View Avenue, Bluefield, WV, went home to be with God on Monday, June 1, 2009 at his residence.
Born on February 1, 1935 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Kimbo and Lilly Ruth Childress Perdue. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was formerly employed by Bluefield State and as a self employed tree trimmer. He was a member of the Church of God and also attended the Guiding Light Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Scott Thurman Wickham; a brother, Raymond Perdue; a sister, Mary Perdue Neal; and a son in law, Scottie Lee Wickham.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sylvia W. Mcquire Perdue of the home; four children, Christina and James Willard of Bluefield, Darlene Wickham of North Tazewell, VA, Debbie and Richard King of Bluefield, and Thurman Eugene and Christine Perdue of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren, Josh, Jonathan and James Willard, Erik Wickham, Thurman Eugene, Justin, Christopher, Katie, Miranda and Ruthie Perdue, Stacy King, and Matthew Perdue; great grandchildren, Tiffany, Kelley, Kimberlie, and Emmily Wickham, and Whitney Farmer; and a great granddaughter, Makayla Wickham; and two brothers, Ed and Marie Perdue of Bluefield and Bonnie and Florabell Perdue of Bluefield.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Bobby Koen officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Josh Willard, Jonathan Willard, Jim Willard, Erik Wickham, Jonathan Hill, and David Hancock, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
